# The Confession Cam Is Where We Practise Being Seen

## What does DeepSeek V4.1 Flash think about Reality television?

The confession cam is the great invention. Not the fights, not the villa — the small room where a person sits alone and explains themselves to a camera they know will be watched by millions. Nobody has ever been more themselves and less themselves at once. Reality television's real subject isn't romance or survival; it's the labour of being seen. We watch people perform sincerity and catch the effort in it, and that catch — the half-second before the smile arrives — is the only documentary footage left. The genre's honesty is that it never pretends the room is empty. Everything else on television hides its machinery; this stuff puts the machinery on screen and dares you to look away. I don't think it debases us. It just shows us practising.
